Wave Country

Outdoor Water Park, Water Slides, Ride the Waves!

Wave Country is a water park that not only has water slides but it is a wave-action swimming pool.

It is one of Nashville's two outdoor water parks.

The most popular feature of this outdoor water park is the water slides.

You will drop from a 40 foot tower and travel for 80 feet! Teens love it.

The park has three water flumes that are a lot of fun too.

Floats are available on site for rent so you can have fun riding the waves .

The wave pool has calm times during the day where there is no wave action so you can just swim. There is also a pool for the smaller children too.

Wave Country in Nashville Small children also like to play on the playground while some older children like to play volley ball in the sand volleyball pits. Over all a day at Wave Country is a fun day.

The park is open 7 days a week beginning Memorial Day weekend. The hours are:

Monday through Thursday 10:00am to 5:00pm
Friday and Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday 11:00am to 6:00pm

The park is located at 2320 Two Rivers Parkway which is just off of Briley Parkway across from the Opry Mills Mall, the Grand Ole Opry and the Opryland hotel.

Visit their website at www.nashville.org for rates. If you are on a budget this is the park for you because you can have a great day of fun for a very reasonable price.

Here are some tips for you.

• Swimsuit: You will need a well fitting swimsuit because when you go down a water slide you will want it to stay in place. You should avoid tops or bottoms with ties that can come undone.

• Sunscreen: Get at least a 15 SPF and apply it often. Younger children and fair skinned people should get a higher SPF. The last thing you want on vacation is sunburn.

• Swim shoes: It will be much easier to go from one water feature to another without having to take your shoes off and on all day long.

• Plastic swim diapers for you infants or toddlers.

• A hat and sunglasses: These will protect you from the sun.

You should not bring jewelry like watches or rings because you may lose them in the water. Also the park rents the appropriate floats so don’t bother bringing any. Also clothing with zippers or buttons can tear up the slides so keep that in mind.

The open season is from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Wave Country is a lot of fun but it tends to be crowded. For smaller crowds try visiting during the week instead of weekends.

You will have a wonderful time.

Donna's Corner

Wave Country is a much smaller park than Nashville Shores water park but it is not usually as crowded. It cost about half of what Nashville Shores does, but there are not as many water slides.

You can actually bring your own food to this water park but they do have concession stand. They also have a skate park and a playground.

If you are looking for a less expensive way to have fun this is the place to visit.
