Tennessee History and much more
When you visit the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville you will learn about Tennessee History, Civil war history and even some about the
history of Nashville.
There are a lot of
Nashville Museums
to see, but this one is probably the best one to see if you are a history buff. The museum has several permanent exhibits of artifacts, weapons, battle flags and more from prehistoric Indian cultures up to about the 1920’s. Frequently they have changing exhibits as well.
You can check the Tennessee State Museum website at
www.tnmuseum.org
for more information on these exhibits. The Tennessee State Museum actually is divided into three parts. The Military branch and the Capitol are separate buildings. The Military branch of the museum is located in the War Memorial Building across the street from the main facility. You will see exhibits beginning with the Spanish American War in 1898 and ending with World War II inside and you will see memorials to the Tennessee soldiers who died in World War 1, the Korean War and the Vietnam War outside in the War Memorial Plaza. The Tennessee State Capitol stands tall on a hill and looks just as it did when it opened in 1859. It really is beautiful. I took my daughter there when she was about 10 and she asked me to buy it so she could live there.

Donna's CornerI took my friend Dara and her family to this museum when they visited me a couple of years ago. They thought the mummy was the coolest part of the museum. It is much smaller than you would expect. I haven't been in a while but I noticed that they still mention the mummy on their website. It is free to visit the museum most of the time. It is a good way to spend a few hours.
