Tennessee Agricultural Museum
When you visit the Tennessee Agricultural Museum you will feel like you just stepped into the past. This is just one of the
Nashville Museums
that take you back to the pioneer days of rural Tennessee. You will get to see more that 3500 artifacts, buggies, wagons and more.
The museum also has gardens and nature trails not to mention old cabins and barns. Some of the old farm tools and equipment are interesting to see. Talk about
great places for kids,
this is it during the summer. The whole month of July the museum has special activities for kids and adults. Here are some of the things that are happening on Saturdays in July. You can feed the goats and Guinea hens and a greedy goose. You can ride pint size donkeys and see the llamas, sheep, chickens and a spotted mule. You can watch the birds and bees and check out the butterfly hotel. You can also take free horse and buggy rides. These activities are all on different weekends so you will need to check or just show up and see what happening. The museum also has two fun festivals during the year. The Historic Rural Life Festival comes around May every year. This festival will have sheep sheering, butter churning and story telling. It also focuses on how electricity has changed our lives since the pioneer days. The Music and Molasses Arts and Crafts Festival is a fun festival to visit for kids and adults. This is one of the
festival and events
that is held in October every year. You will get to see Molasses mad the old fashioned way. There will be two stages where you can
hear bluegrass music
and see some cloggers do their dance. That is always enjoyable. This festival also offers free buggy rides, pony rides and kids will have animals that they can touch. There will also be story telling. Attending this festival is one of the
things to do in Nashville with kids
for free. This museum is always interesting to see so plan to visit it while on your
Nashville vacation.
The museum is free to visit. The donkey rides cost 3.00 but everything else is free unless you want to purchase a souvenir such as goat milk soap or a quill pen. The Tennessee Agricultural Museum is only open during weekdays from 9:00-4:00 with the exception of Saturday's in July and the two festivals that are open on weekends. They are also closed on state holidays. Here is the address, phone number and website for you. Ellington Agricultural Center Nashville TN 37204(615) 837-5197
