this one is the most spectacular. Centennial Park is one of the most popular parks in the city. Nashvillians and tourist both go to this park. It is great for walking or having a picnic. The park is not far from other downtown

too. It is in a great location. The building and the 42-foot statue of Athena are full scale replicas of the original Greek architectural site from ancient Greece. It was built in 1897 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition. The plaster replicas used in the building are direct cast of the original sculptures found in the Naos. The originals dating back to 438 B.C. are housed in the British Museum in London.

This is a great way to see a replica of ancient Greek architecture without leaving America. The museum has a permanent collection of 63 paintings by 19th and 20th century American artist. It also has a variety of temporary shows and exhibits. In the summer local theater productions use the building as a backdrop for classic Greek plays. Some of the plays are outside on the steps and some are inside. Usually the plays are free of charge. Visit the website at

for the events schedule. The museum is open year around Tuesday –Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. During the summer months June, July and August it is also open on Sundays from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The museum is closed on the following holidays:• July 4• Labor Day• Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week• Christmas Eve• Christmas Day• New Years Day It is a nice way to spend a few hours.
