Nashville Traffic can be a pain at times but if you plan ahead you can avoid the pitfalls of heavy traffic. Who wants to sit in traffic? Here are some tips for you to help navigate your way around Nashville.

Avoid Rush Hour. Rush hour in Nashville is actually the hours between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and the hours between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.If you must be in town during rush hour use the HOV lanes on the interstate. If you are not from a city, you may ask "What is an HOV lane ?". HOV stands for High Occupancy Vehicle and it was created to alleviate traffic flow. You must have two or more persons in the vehicle to use the HOV lanes during rush hour. Avoid game time traffic. If you are not attending a
sporting events
avoid the downtown area of town an hour before and after game time. The city puts up roadblocks when the
Tennessee Titans
have a gameto help with traffic. Most of the games sell out and the stadium holds about 67,000 people so traffic can be a mess at game time. Get There Early Are you headed downtown for a taste of the

If you are going to a concert, a game or just to hang out in the entertainment district my advice is to get there early. Traffic in downtown gets hectic in the evenings. If you are early for a concert just stop in at one of the

for a drink or do some souvenir shopping. Avoid bad weather conditions if at all possible. It seems like there are a lot of wrecks on rainy days and even more in snowy or icy weather. If you must go out in bad weather, allow extra time to get where you are going. Also leave extra space between you and the driver in front of you. Don't use cruise control in bad weather because most people tap the brake to turn it off and that cancause hydroplaning in rainy or snowy weather. Use alternate routes Here are some good alternate routes to use are I-440 or Briley Parkway if you are not actually going to
visit downtown Nashville.

I spend a lot of time in downtown Nashville and I can tell you the best way to get around is to walk. I tend to avoid the interstate so the picture of traffic I took is on Whitebridge Road. It was surprisingly busy at 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon.
