This symphony hall provides some of the best Nashville entertainment in the city. Schermerhorn Symphony Center

The Nashville Symphony has been around since 1920. They usually perform about 100 concerts and events during the year at this performance hall.

The Schermerhorn Center has some great performances scheduled.

You might see a performance of Beethoven's music or you may see musical artist like Glenn Campbell and Jimmy Webb perform in the pop series. The Musicians Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremony is also performed here sometimes.

The center was designed with different musical styles in mind. The acoustics in this place is great. You can hear everything clearly. When you visit, they ask that you check in your coat so that they can maintain the clarity of the sound.

Schermerhorn Symphony Center is located on a full city block in downtown Nashville’s rapidly developing SoBro (South of Broadway) neighborhood.

It is between, 3rd avenue and, 4th avenue. The address is One Symphony Place, Nashville, TN 37201. The architecture of this building is just beautiful, inside and out. It is near several Nashville tourist attractions in the downtown area.

The Schermerhorn Center requires all cell phones and anything that makes noise turned off during the concerts. Cameras and recorders are not allowed inside the performance hall, but you can get some beautiful pictures outside.

Good news! When you go to a concert you can park for free in the Suntrust parking garage on 4th avenue, just two blocks away from the Schermerhorn. Note: There is a Suntrust parking garage on 5th avenue. You shouldn’t use it.

You might want to check the Park It Downtown website for additional parking just in case the Suntrust garage is full. The website is www.parkitdowntown

They do offer valet parking if you want it. You should check the Nashville Symphony website at www.nashvillesymphony.com for more information on valet parking, concert schedules, tickets and more.

Donna’s Corner

About a year ago Danny and I went with a group of people to see the Chieftons. They are an Irish group of musicians and singers that have been performing for about 40 years.

The dancing was awesome! We were not expecting dancing at all but it made the show spectacular. We loved it. Bodhran - Irish drum

The man playing the Irish drum was amazing! He held it in one hand and beat the drum with the instrument thing in the other hand.

I looked on the internet for a drum to show you a picture. The music and songs were great too.

It was a high energy show and we had a great time. We bought a CD so we can listen occasionally.

Our group was in the balcony and we could see and hear everything clearly. We did not feel that we were too far away to see.

The building takes up a whole city block but the concert hall itself is relatively small and elegant. The seats were very comfortable. I hope you enjoy the concert you choose as much as we did.
