Libraries are Great Places for Kids

The Nashville Library is a wonderful place to go when you visit Nashville.

Libraries are great places for kids and adults. The Nashville Public Library has a lot of free events for kids.

You may be thinking what? Visit a library?

The Nashville Public Library is worth visiting especially if you have kids.

Did you know that you can see some free Nashville concerts at the downtown library? During the summer they usually have a summer concert series during lunch at the Main Library.

Just bring your lunch to the courtyard on the second floor. The courtyard is actually outdoors and there is a stage out there for musicians that play during the lunch hour.

The library is always having special events for kids. For example, they have marionette shows from time to time and they often show popular children's movies like Toy Story 3 at the Main Library. When coming to the movies, you can bring a picnic for the kids.

If you like architecture then you should take a look at the Main library. It is beautifully designed. If you stand in front of the Main Library you can see the State Capital. Most people probably don't notice this but the front of the library looks a lot like the State Capitol.

The downtown library is close to several downtown Nashville restaurants and several Nashville tourist attractions. Be sure to check it out.

There are a number of special events at the other library locations as well. Just check the library website to find out what is going on where.

There is something funny that I want to tell you about the library. The Director of the Nashville Public Library system is Donna Nicely. My name is Donna Nicely. We are two different people.

Both of us refer to each other as the “other “ Donna Nicely. I frequently receive e-mails that are for Donna.

I received one just last week congratulating me for an award that Donna had won for the library.

I responded to the man that the “other” Donna Nicely had won the award and that I would let her know. Many people ask if we are related. Donna and I talked about that a few years ago and figured out that both of our husbands are from East Tennessee but we have not researched the family tree to see if we are related.

I love going to the library. I generally go to the Main Library in Downtown Nashville about every two weeks for books.

I have to say that Donna does a fantastic job running the library. I have never been disappointed when I visit.
