The Nashville Flea Market
The End of an Era
When I first wrote this page the Nashville Flea Market was one of the largest flea markets in the country and has thousands of visitors monthly. Dealers and vendors from 30 states sold their wares here each month. Many
Nashville events
were held here including the Tennessee State Fair.

The Flea Market was held the 4th weekend of the month at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville. I came to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds often because there were a number of trade shows, sporting events, the state fair and of course the flea market. Another thing that was located on the fairgrounds is the Fairgrounds Speedway. Auto racing events was held here just about every weekend during the year.

There was plenty of free parking here. Occasionally you had to pay for parking depending on the event but most of the time parking was free. The Tennessee State Fairgrounds needed a major face lift because the buildings were so old and the land was somewhat hilly. Most of the people that I have talked to was in favor of upgrading the facilities. The City of Nashville decided to close the Tennessee State Fairgounds because they said that it was losing money and that it would be too costly to remodel. The future of trade shows held at the Fairgounds are uncertain. It is not known where the trade shows or even if the trade shows will be held in the future. It is the end of an era. The Tennessee State Fairgrounds has been in Nashville for more than 100 years. It's a shame to see it go. There are some events going on at the fair grounds as of January 16 2009 so check the official website for the Flea Market in Nashville at
