Music City Hot Chicken Festival

The Music City Hot Chicken Festival is hot in Nashville Tennessee. This is one of the fun Nashville events that comes around every year on the July 4th.

It is lots of fun with good food, fun activities and good music.

The festival started up about 5 years ago with about 500 people showing up for some hot chicken.

Last year more than 6000 people came to the festival.

This event is held in one of the Nashville Parks and it is fun for the whole family.

There will be some inflatable jumpys and games for children to play. Adults will enjoy good food and music.

The first 500 people to show up will receive a ticket for a free sample of hot chicken. Everyone else can buy some hot chicken for about $5 bucks.

The festival is all about hot chicken but usually there are a couple of vendors that have mild food for those folks that don't want the hot stuff. Dee’s Q, Otters Chicken Tenders and Eastside Fish are usually at the festival and serve food on the milder side.

You can't have a festival in Music City without some live Nashville entertainment. Every year the festival has a variety of groups performing. In 2011 the folk-rock group Shotgun Shooter, alternative rock group The Superficials, The Centennial Hiptet jazz quintet, and jazz/blues group the Bradford Electric will perform live.

Every year there is a hot chicken cooking contest that is a lot of fun. Teams like to dress up in funny chicken costumes and have goofy names. They compete for the Hot chicken Trophy and bragging rights. It is fun to watch them. In 2011 the contest will be judged by several well known people in Nashville including Mayor Karl Dean, country music star Lorrie Morgan and more.

After all that hot chicken you will need a way to cool down. Yazoo brewery will have cold drinks on hand in the beer garden. The Farmers Market will be bringing a truckload of watermelon. Fleur De Lis Flavors will also provide snowballs, a frosty treat from Louisiana that's similar to snow cones.

The festival goes from 11am – 3pm on July 4th in East Park at 700 Woodland Street. Here is the official website for you.
