Fort Nashborough
An American Historic Site
Fort Nashborough is an early American historic site located on the edge of the Cumberland River at Riverfront Park in downtown Nashville. The settlement was founded back in 1780.
It provided shelter for the first families in Nashville until the Indian attacks ended about 12 years later. Can you imagine what life must have been like for them? It is a free exhibit from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day. You can see LP Field from the fort and you may see riverboats like the
General Jackson Showboat
or the Music City Queen in the river. The fort is in the heart of the Nashville nightlife scene and some
Nashville tourist attractions.
I am sure you will enjoy the scenery at the fort and Riverfront Park. It is just a nice place to take an afternoon stroll.
Donna’s CornerYou probably will only spend 30 minutes or less at this exhibit and maybe a few more minutes at Riverfront Park unless there is an event going on.
I recommend that head for the Nashville downtown district afterward just a block away. There are plenty of
downtown Nashville restaurants,
and
Nashville bars
with live entertainment, and shops for you to see. It is a very lively area of Nashville. If you are visiting on a weekday it would be a good time to walk on up to 4th avenue so you can have lunch or do some shopping at the
Nashville Arcade.
